In this post we are going to see 5 basic tips that we need to know if we meet the requirements to start the project.

The ubication:

This is the most important thing because it will determine what we can plant according to the conditions of light, air, temperature, humidity, plants that may be compatible, etc. The most frequent places that we can use can be: the roof, balcony, terrace , window, interior patio, garden close to home ...

It must be safe, that we see that no one is going to steal our crops or plants when we are not at home, of course this can happen anywhere but as always it is better to be safe.

Plants to grow:

This depends directly on the first point because according to some factors or others, we can decide what we can have in our urban garden. Lettuces, radishes, peppers, tomatoes, parsley, coriander, spearmint, medicinal plants. Of course we also need seedbeds to pamper these seeds well.

Containers to use:

Almost any container can be used for planting and you don't need to be shopping, as pots are often expensive. They should be mainly plastic or ceramic, since those that are metallic when heated with the sun can damage the plants more easily and those made of wood must be special so that it does not rot, such as the cultivation tables.

As for the depth we need, it should be approximately 20 cm because the less land the vegetables will grow the less and they will be small.

Substrate required:

The substrate to choose is important because it must be soft and spongy in structure to prevent the water from puddling and the plants from suffocating. It is not always necessary to buy the entire substrate but we can add other components to the soil that we already have to improve its structure.

Worm humus, coconut fiber, perlite, vermiculite are some of the most common, if you want to know how to prepare it correctly, do not hesitate to watch the following video where Toni explains it to you.

There are several commercial formats, both liquid and in bags to provide the necessary nutrients to our plants, but ideally we could manufacture our own and how is this possible? Well with our friends the worms. Feel free to check out these links to learn a little more. Link1 Link2 Link3

Pests and Predators:

Even if you are in the city, there are also pests and predators that live in the plants, it is advisable to be well informed about the possible pests that our crop and predators may have, since they are one of the best ways to keep our garden organic. It is also important to put some flowering plants to attract pollinators that will fertilize the plants.

Remember that the most important thing is to be patient, learn little by little, have fun and dedicate time each day to the plants, not using chemical fertilizers or any insecticide, because but where is the grace of having your own crop
